Our Great Comedy College teaches you the basics of Stand-up comedy!

This Intensive 7 week course will prepare you to enter the world of Stand-Up Comedy! If you have ever dreamed of trying Stand-Up or if you just want to have fun while honing your public speaking skills then THIS IS THE COURSE FOR YOU!!!!!

The Course Runs 7 Weeks and culminates in a graduation show where you will perform a standup comedy set right here on Governor's stage as well as at our sister club, The Brokerage! You will learn all the basics including writing material, presentation and delivery, dealing with the crowd, emceeing shows, comedy club etiquette and also the business of standup comedy! We work with each person individually to enhance their strengths and eliminate their weaknesses and we answer any questions and address any topics which the members of the class may bring up as well!

Who's teaching the class?

Comedy College is proud to announce the return of its founder and original instructor, John Trueson. John has been a professional comedian for over 20 years. Aside from teaching Comedy College, he has also booked several major rooms, managed Gotham Comedy Club in Manhattan, served as a talent consultant for the Westbury/North Fork Music Fair and recently was a talent evaluator for NBC's Last Comic Standing at their NYC auditions so John knows all sides of the comedy business and can give a unique and detailed view on how things work in the comedy world.
